Based in Cambridge and Hamilton, Davis Cartwright is a certified Zero Balancing Practitioner, providing Zero Balancing at your Home or Workplace.
What is Zero Balancing?
Zero Balancing (otherwise known as ‘ZB’) focuses on key joints of the skeleton that conduct and balance forces of gravity, posture and movement. It gently realigns the skeletal system, releasing tension held in the bones, joints and muscles.
The underlying Zero Balancing philosophy is that the body inherently knows how to heal and self-correct, given the opportunity. Zero Balancing helps to clear blocks in the body’s energy flows, increases vitality and contributes to better posture.
Most people find 3 sessions, 7 to 10 days apart is ideal, followed by monthly maintenance sessions.
What’s a Zero Balancing session like?
Each session follows the same whole body protocol sequence, with advanced techniques applied according to your specific needs or goals.
First, we have a short discussion in which you share your current state of health and the goals you’d like to focus on for the session, followed by a seated evaluation. I’d then ask you to lie down on the massage table, on your back, fully clothed. I then test for tension along your spine, leg joints, feet, neck, head and arms, placing gentle finger pressure and traction to release tension wherever it is found. People often find this deeply relaxing.
Although the active part of the session takes about 45 minutes, most people need 10-15 minutes to integrate the changes that have occurred. During this time, you remain lying on the table while I hold the space for you. When you’re ready I help you to sit up and give you shoulder massage. Walking up and down the room helps integrate the session further.
After your session
Your body continues to make realignment adjustments for 3-10 days after a session. I suggest you take it easy for the rest of the day instead of doing anything too vigourous. If you feel like having an early night, listen to your body and do just that instead of pushing through to your normal bedtime.
Some people become highly energised the day after a ZB session and use this new-found energy to do a whole lot of extra stuff they weren’t able to previously. Although this is tempting, the body is using this energy for transformational change. If this happens to you, I suggest you hold off from these activities for a few days until your body’s completed this process.

Sounds awesome! How do I book a session & what are your terms and conditions?
SESSION Location
Serene Balance services are held at either your Home or Workplace, whichever is convenient to you. There are no callout fees for this service within Hamilton or Cambridge. Any sessions held external to Hamilton or Cambridge are charged at 72 cents per kilometre, to and from the destination, from the closest town boundary, via the shortest route. Booking a session
Allow for 10 minutes either side of your session for set-up and pack-down. Bookings can be made either by:
- Calling or texting Davis on 027 414 9164

- Setmore, our online booking system (by clicking the ‘Book Now’ button above). Setmore sends an email to your email address to verify when a booking has been made, and an email reminder 48 hours before your session. This gives you ample time to reschedule or cancel your booking. Once the booking is received, I’ll send a confirmation; this may take an hour or two.
Underage Clients: Clients under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years old) to a session.
Paying for your session
Payment is required on the day of the session.
An introductory session (Essence) is $60, and every session thereafter (Wellbeing) is $80. You can either pay in Cash on the day or Bank Transfer to Serene Balance 02-0316-0499960-000, referencing your First Name Initial, Surname and the Session Date (DDMMYY). For example, if John Smith had a session on 25 September 2017, his bank reference would be: JSMITH 250917
Any outstanding amount on an account needs to be paid within 7 days of the booked session, after which a $20 surcharge will be added to the account for each 7 day anniversary after the booked session until the account is paid in full.
Cancellations / Arriving Late
A minimum 24 hour cancellation period applies for all bookings. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, once you’ve booked a session, you agree to pay the full session fee within 7 days, should you:
- Cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours before your scheduled session;
- Forget to attend the scheduled session;
- Are not at the agreed location for the session at the scheduled time;
- Choose not to attend your scheduled session without telling us;
- Stop the session for whatever reason and choose not to receive any further services during your booked session time; and/or,
- Fail to have an accompanying adult (18+ years old) attend a scheduled session with an underage client (under 18 years old). The session is automatically cancelled.
Arriving late to a session: If you call ahead (027 414 9164) to let me know you’ll be delayed, you have 20 minutes from the scheduled time to arrive for your session before the session is cancelled, otherwise you have 10 minutes from the scheduled time. A shorter session will be provided within the time remaining, but you remain liable for the full session fee.
Using this website and booking a service (‘session’) with Serene Balance (‘I’,’us’,’our’,’we’) implies that you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions. Serene Balance products and services are provided in accordance with New Zealand law and regulations. (Updated 9 January 2018)

- Bilateral knee replacement
- Recent fractures (within 6 weeks of completing the healing or being discharged by your physician)
- Cancer
- Bone metastases (bone tumour)
- Severe osteoporosis

- Scoliosis (Grade 3)
- Acute illness

Caution is required with the following – let the practitioner know prior to the session:
- Long periods of high stress
- Deficiency syndromes, such as HIV+ and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Hip replacement
- History of shoulder joint dislocation
- History of dizziness or vertigo
- Elderly or frail people
- Post-surgery (allow 2-3 months before having a Zero Balancing session)
- Post-fracture (allow 2-3 months before having a Zero Balancing session)
- Prolonged cortisone therapy
Zero Balancing works in conjunction with medical therapy, but is not a substitute for it.
Is there an age group when Zero Balancing should not be done?
Is it OK for me to leave my mobile phone on during the session?
I therefore ask that you switch your mobile device to silent Flight mode before starting a session.
You’re most welcome to play your own relaxing music, though not using headphones as these can get in the way of the neck work.
How is the Zero Balancing touch different to other therapies?
Zero Balancing places a strong emphasis on safety, and never seeks to force any change. Zero Balancing touch feels good, and when there is some soreness, it should “hurt good.” A hallmark of Zero Balancing is what we call Interface Touch. In Interface Touch, the practitioner is aware of both his or her energetic and physical boundaries as well as those of the client. This touch is respectful, supportive, and meets you precisely where you are. Zero Balancing does not introduce outside energy into your body. Rather, Zero Balancing clears energy blocks in your system and allows your own energy to flow in stronger, clearer ways.” Zero Balancing Health Association
